The U.S. Army DACM Office
The Office of the Army Director for Acquisition Career Management (DACM) is responsible for ensuring the career development and Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification (training, education and experience) of the Army Acquisition Workforce, which consists of approximately 40,000 acquisition civilian and military members. This workforce resides in Army staff offices, Army commands, Army service component commands, program executive offices, and direct reporting units.
The Army DACM Office works directly with the Defense Acquisition University (DAU), the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Acquisition), and the Undersecretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics) to enable workforce initiatives and to serve as advocates for the Army Acquisition Workforce.
Director, Acquisition Career Management
Lt. Gen. Michael E. Williamson became the Principal Military Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology (ASA(ALT )) and Director, Acquisition Career Management (DACM) on April 4, 2014. In his previous assignment, he was the Deputy, Commanding General of the Combined Security Transition Command in Afghanistan from July 2013 to January 2014. Lt. Gen. Williamson’s previous assignments include serving as the Assistant Military Deputy to the ASA(ALT) and the Assistant Deputy for Acquisition and Systems Management, both in Washington, D.C.; the Joint Program Executive Officer, Joint Tactical Radio Systems in San Diego, Calif.; the Deputy Program Executive Officer, Integration in Arlington, Va.; the Director of Integration, Office in Washington, D.C. He also served as the Project Manager, Network Systems Integration, Future Combat Systems, Brigade Combat Team at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey from May 2006 to May 2009.
Deputy Director, Acquisition Career Management
Mr. Craig A. Spisak, Director, U.S. Army Acquisition Support Center (USAASC), serves as the Deputy DACM. His staff, the Army DACM Office, enables the mission of the DACM. Mr. Spisak has served as the Director of the USAASC since June 2005. USAASC is a direct reporting unit (DRU) responsible for providing oversight of the Army Acquisition Corps (AAC) and the Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce. Under Mr. Spisak’s leadership, USAASC continues to provide major command-level support to the program executive office and project management communities in the areas of resource management, personnel management and force structure as well as serve as advocates for the entire Army Acquisition Workforce (40,000) to ensure their professional growth and development to continually improve Army combat capability.
