DESCRIPTION OF TWI JOB DUTIES:The officer will have the opportunity to follow and be involved in the life-cycle of public sector/defense delivery service capability from initial requirement/opportunity identification, capture, proposal development, critical reviews and decision making, and delivery. The officer will be integrated into the team and will experience “hands-on” of everything from pricing to program management to contract development and execution IAW applicable FARS/DFARS and corporate/federal laws. The individual will be assigned to our Army and Intel Division within our Defense/Intel Group, which is located at the CSC HQ in Falls Church.

The individual will be recognized and incorporated as a senior manager/junior director and will have access to all CSC public and private information, to include access to all tools and networks. The officer will be provided with a senior mentor who has extensive Army and corporate experience. The officer will also be given the opportunity and encouraged to participate in the CSC PMP training program and if not already certified, become certified as a PMP. Work time will be flexible to allow participation in acquisition courses that are available through the Defense Acquisition University at Ft Belvoir, VA.

Objectives may include: understand how GDLS executes business operations on a daily basis; understand how new business is captured; observe their high-level decision process; understand how GDLS deals with budget uncertainties; and observe execution of supply chain management as well as engineering and modernization operations.

The program will be tailored based on the officer’s background and future goals, and the officer will work in different stages (e.g., proposal preparation, and program execution) depending on background education and experience level.

The officer will have the opportunity to discover better business techniques through immersion into Lockheed Martin’s business development, program management, and contract execution, specifically in live, virtual and constructive training systems. Training objectives include: Business Development, Program Management, Finance, Planning, and Contracting. The training will encompass the life-cycle of DoD contracts from pursuing and qualifying opportunities, responding to RFPs, establishing a baseline program during proposal preparation, and starting and performing work on an awarded contract. The officer will gain a better perspective of how industry operates by working closely with peers, as well as having the opportunity to share the government’s perspective to improve government/industry understanding and relations.
