DESCRIPTION
The Joint Biological Tactical Detection System (JBTDS) is a lightweight, man-portable, battery-operated system that will detect, collect, and identify biological warfare agents in near-real time. JBTDS supports force protection and maximizes combat effectiveness by enhancing medical response decision-making. When networked, JBTDS augments existing biological detection systems to provide theater-wide biological warfare agent detection and warning.
BENEFIT TO THE WARFIGHTER
The JBTDS’ ability to detect, collect, and identify biological warfare agents at very low concentrations gives Warfighters additional time to make decisions and take action to prevent or reduce the risk of exposure.
