FORT BELVOIR, Va. (April 29, 2015) — The U.S. Army Acquisition Support Center (USAASC) has received a prestigious Gold Quill Award of Merit from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) for its 2014 campaign recognizing the 25th anniversary of the U.S. Army Acquisition Corps (AAC).
USAASC is the only award winner from the United States in the Government Communication Programs category, which also recognized organizations from Canada, Russia, Slovenia and Australia.
The winning campaign—AAC25—aimed to leverage the silver anniversary of the AAC to foster pride and camaraderie among the entire Army acquisition workforce while raising the profile and prestige of Army acquisition and the Acquisition Corps. Developed at no cost and using only existing communications tools and platforms, AAC25 showcased the workforce’s considerable accomplishments and successfully engaged its target audience, garnering recognition at the highest levels of the Army, the Department of Defense and the White House.
Now in their 40th year, the awards recognize worldwide achievement in innovative thinking, creative solutions and demonstrable results. More than 300 entries received awards in this year’s competition, representing 15 countries. Feedback from this year’s evaluators indicated that the standard of work in this year’s awards was some of the best seen in recent years, IABC stated. Winners will be honored at the Excellence Awards Gala, to be held June 15 in San Francisco, California. Winning entries will be featured as case studies in Communication World, IABC’s online magazine, and as best-practice examples in IABC’s online library.
