TIME-TESTED, STILL EVOLVING
The Army is preparing to upgrade the battle-tested Abrams tank, primarily to improve space, weight, power, and cooling capacity and to prepare the Abrams to host next-generation electronics and networking technologies. Phase 1 of the Abrams upgrade is underway, with initial production slated for FY17.
