WASHINGTON (May 27, 2021)—The Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology (OASA(ALT)) announced that its popular biennial publication, the U.S. Army Weapon Systems Handbook is now available online to view and download in OASA(ALT)’s website resource section and at https://asc.army.mil/docs/wsh2/2020-2021-wsh.pdf.

“While the focus in Army modernization is on the future and our signature efforts, I am reminded daily of our responsibility within the acquisition community for the total life-cycle management of all Army weapon systems and programs of record,” said Douglas R. Bush, the acting ASA(ALT).

“The Handbook highlights the major programs within our Program Executive Offices and includes a special section on how we work with U.S. Army Futures Command (AFC) and its Cross-Functional Teams to achieve the Army’s modernization goals with greater speed, efficiency and effectiveness,” he continued.

The 2020-2021 Weapon Systems Handbook includes the individual organizations that collectively form AFC and OASA(ALT), weapon system program descriptions and benefits to the Soldier, program status, specifications and projected activities, as well as the names and locations of the Army’s industry partners.

The handbook also features AFC’s modernization stakeholders. “This helps the reader gain a better understanding of the collaborative efforts within the Army Modernization Enterprise to empower, unburden and protect our men and women in uniform,” Bush said.

“We realize in all our efforts that people are our most important asset,” Bush said. “Our acquisition workforce professionals are charged with ensuring that all Army organizations, policies, processes and programs that consume time, money and manpower deliver real value to the Soldiers we serve and the taxpayers who support us.”
