Defense Acquisition University (DAU) credentials are separate and different from DAWIA certification. Army Acquisition Workforce (AAW) professionals may apply for and complete DAU credentials outside of their primary Acquisition Functional Area (AFA), regardless if they are certified or not in their primary AFA. The DACM Office strongly recommends that AAW professionals first focus on achieving the DAWIA certification level required for their current acquisition-coded position, before they pursue credentials. Certification focuses on base learning, with the expectation that AAW professionals will get any additional, just-in-time training throughout the course of their career through credentials. AAW professionals should talk with their first-line supervisor to discuss if there is a need to complete credential training and then work together to plan and schedule courses in their Individual Development Plan, as appropriate.
