Sharpen your skills and earn continuous learning points at DAU’s symposium

FORT BELVOIR, Va. (April 18, 2016) – Defense Acquisition University (DAU) is hosting a one-day training symposium on Wednesday, April 27, at the Fort Belvoir campus.

Panel discussions, training sessions, and a keynote speech from Undersecretary of Defense Frank Kendall will focus on three themes: “Strengthening Cost Consciousness, Professionalism, and Technical Excellence.”

If you’re in the Washington, D.C. area, it’s not too late to register to attend in person for an $85 fee. Acquisition professionals outside the Washington area can watch a live stream of the symposium at DAU regional campuses or extended learning sites. Registration information, a schedule of events, and a list of places to watch the live stream are detailed on DAU’s website.

Those attending will receive six continuous learning points toward their acquisition certification requirements.

Highlights from the schedule include:

  • The view from the top: “Thoughts on Momentum: A Keynote Address” with Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics Mr. Frank Kendall (8:15 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. EDT)
  • How are we doing? “Performance of Defense Acquisition System Annual Report” with Dr. Philip Anton, Deputy Director of the PARCA Acquisition Policy Analysis Center
  • Learn what’s behind the buzz: “Public-Private Partnerships” with a panel of speakers including: Ms. Betsy Lederer, Defense Acquisition University; Mr. Jeff Heron, Naval Air Systems Command; Mr. John Sutton, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Materiel Readiness; and Mr. Jim Sutton, Northrop Grumman.
  • Plan defensively: “Program Protection Planning” with Ms. Kristin Baldwin, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Systems Engineering
  • Mitigate cyber risk: “Cyber Security Risk Management Framework” with Mr. Tim Denman of Defense Acquisition University
