Software demos


Since January 2017, 311+ software demos and other strategic engagements; 19 separate engagements every month to Congress, OSD, HQDA, ARNG, USAR, ACOM, ASCC, DRU, AG community and others.


Stakeholder and technical reviews


Since November 2016, 8 different 1-2 day events at IPPS-A headquarters involving 1,700+ active, NGB and USAR Soldiers, and civilians from HRC, SSI, ARSTAF, IMCOM, DFAS, NGB/NG state level reviewing 70+ features.


Deployment briefs and Workshops


Since April 2018, 8 separate briefs to all 50 states and territories with participation from the TAG, G-1, G-3, G-6, IPPS-A installation coordinators, DIG leaders, PAOs, USPFO, HRP-S branch chief, MilPay and others.


User juries


Since September 2017, 6 separate 4-5 day events at FIG involving 220+ Soldiers and civilians assessing 40+ feature sets; targeted users included MOS 42A, 420A.


USER-CENTERED DESIGN


IPPS-A uses operational mission scenarios to show how the system will improve the lives of HR professionals, commanders and Soldiers. These events also serve to train and transition the total force in advance of IPPS-A’s deployment.


CONCLUSION IPPS-A must be developed. As we deploy its capabilities to all three components, beginning with the National Guard in early 2019, the program will continue leveraging agile teams to inno- vate and formulate solutions to the challenges of building an integrated personnel and pay system. We will also continue listen- ing to feedback from stakeholders at all levels as we rely heavily on this input to improve the utility and usability of the system. IPPS-A needs the continued support of Soldiers and Army civil- ians across the total force to bring this transformation to fruition.


Te IPPS-A Program is currently on track to roll out initial capa- bilities to the National Guard in 2018-2019. As we work toward full operating capability, we remain committed to developing a system that embodies the mantra of “One Soldier, One Record, One Army” and we are going to get this done for the Total Force.

COL. GREGORY S. JOHNSON is the functional management division chief for IPPS-A, under the G-1 Technology and Busi- ness Architecture Integration (TBAI) directorate. He manages the partnership between TBAI and the Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) to develop, deliver and set the conditions for successful sustainment of IPPS-A. He is a career Army Adjutant General Corps officer. He holds a master’s degree from the U.S. Army War College, a Master of Policy Management from Georgetown University’s Public Policy Institute and a Master of Education from the University of Oklahoma. He is a distinguished military graduate of the University of San Francisco, earning a B.A. in U.S. history.
