HARNESSING CHEMISTRY TO DESTROY MUNITIONS The last munition destroyed at the Johnston Atoll Chemical Agent Disposal System (JACADS) facility was a VX nerve agent-filled land mine. Mustard and VX agents are destroyed through a simple chemical reaction that breaks the bonds of the chemical agent, forming simpler organic compounds.
