The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command conducted the first flight of the Advanced Hypersonic Weapon (AHW) concept in November 2011. AHW is a boost-glide weapon that is launched to a high alti- tude, curves back to the Earth’s surface and then glides or skips along the atmo- sphere, without power, for the remainder of its flight.
